WORLDHOTELS Deluxe Collection member Lotte Hotel Seoul has been voted ‘Best Individual Hotel in Asia for 2006’ by the prestigious Global Traveler USA magazine.

The accolade was based on an in-depth survey of business traveler readers of the US publication.

Hotel Lotte was voted ahead of InterContinental, Hong Kong and Four Seasons, Bangkok in the top three. Further down the running were The Park Hyatt in Tokyo, The Peninsula in Hong Kong and Grand Hyatt in Seoul.

Global Traveler USA’s annual survey of over 13,000 readers voted Hotel Lotte ‘Best Individual Hotel in Asia’. The magazine said the choice “proves our readers know how to find hidden gems in the cities they visit regularly”.

Roland Jegge, VP - Asia Pacific of WORLDHOTELS said: “We are delighted that Hotel Lotte has won this prestigious award which highlights the extent to which the hotel has really invested huge resources to making itself an outstanding leader in the market.”

With a total of 1,349 rooms Lotte Hotel Seoul has recently completed an extensive refurbishment including a new wing of 370 rooms and an overall upgrade extending to guest rooms, club floors, suites and the new grand lobby on the 14th floor.

A new innovation is the cozy ‘Salon de Thé’ tea lounge, a library-themed reception offering guests a variety of 30 different types of high quality teas with pastries and cookies when they check-in.

With all staff trained by professional tea sommeliers, the salon also provides a complimentary ‘Early Bird Service’ along with breakfast, business menu, wine, whisky and juices.

General Manager Lee Jung Yeol said, “The New Wing specializes in super-deluxe service for business travellers and VIPs and re-establishes Lotte Hotel Seoul as South Korea’s premier deluxe business hotel.”

He said: “Moving the lobby from the 1st floor to the 14th floor gives guests a lasting impression of Lotte’s New Wing as a super-deluxe business hotel. Guests easily and comfortably check-in and check-out, or do their business, while enjoying coffee and tea surrounded by a library of books.”

The 3 billion won facelift was undertaken by Babey Moulton, Jue & Booth, one of the world’s leading hotel designers.

The lobby also includes a hospitality lounge, garden, business centre with two conference rooms and a meeting room, plus private workstations.
