Accor adds a further 62 hotels to China's network

Global hotel group Accor, has signed an additional 62 new hotels for China to be open or under construction by 2010, with 3 hotels to open in time for the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

These three hotels will include the Novotel, the Ibis Phoenix Plaza and Mercure Wanshang Beijing, bringing the total of Accor hotels in Beijing to 7 by the time of the Olympics.

This year alone has seen Accor launch 20 new hotels in China including the Sofitel Wanda Beijing, the Grand Mercure Xidan Beijing as well as 3 hotels in Shanghai.

Currently, China is a key player in Accor’s plans to develop its five star brand, Sofitel. Accor will be opening more Sofitel hotels around China in the coming months including the Sofitel Riverside Qingyuan and the Sofitel Seshan Resort Shanghai.

“Accor will also introduce the new Pullman brand to China next year. A very well known and highly regarded name in upmarket hospitality, it will provide an even greater diversity of hotel choice for China’s rapidly growing commercial and leisure markets,” said Michael Issenberg, Accor’s Asia Pacific Managing Director.

““We were extremely honoured to host President Hu JinTao at the Sofitel in Sydney during APEC earlier this month and we expect the Sofitel network in China to host many international dignatories,” he added.

Other hotels announced by Accor include the Grand Mercure Hotels located in Dongguan and Guilin as well as 41 new Ibis hotels that will be located in China’s main district areas.
