The Jumeirah Hotel Group has announced that it will open its first hotel in Shanghai this August and plans to expand about five hotels in China over the next years.
Jumeirah's initial hotel in China is located in the Xintiandi area and has over 300 guestrooms. The group said that it had specially designed a Chinese brand aimed at Chinese market. Meanwhile, more than 350 employees who were recruited in China have returned to China at the beginning of this March after finished their training in the group's Dubai hotel and they will participate in the opening of the new hotel in Shanghai.
David Loiseau, vice president sales & marketing - Asia Pacific, Jumeirah, said that Jumeirah's hotel will be priced 15-20% higher than other luxury hotels' rates around China, and the group currently has selected Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hainan, and Macau as candidate cities for further expansion.
The Jumeirah Hotel Group owns some of the world's most luxurious hotels including the well-known Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai.
