The range of events, festivals and new attractions set to be launched in Singapore means the city-state is transforming into the entertainment capital of Asia, according to the local tourism board.

Arguably the most high-profile event in Singapore's near future is the Formula One Grand Prix, which will be held on September 28th and will be the first race in the sport's history to be held at night.

Visitors to Singapore will be able to attend a number of events as part of the Singapore GP season that will be held from September 20th to October 5th, including the River Festival and the Singapore Biennale.

People planning flights to Singapore next year will be able to look forward to the opening of the Marina Bay Sands resort, which will boast leisure facilities including Singapore's first casino and the ArtScience museum.

Attractions that are already up and running in Singapore include the 1.1 million-square-foot VivoCity shopping mall at the harbour front and the Singapore Flyer, which is the world's largest observation wheel.
