X2 Samui, a new resort on Koh Samui island in Thailand, has joined Design Hotels, a German-based sales and marketing company for independent luxury design hotels.

X2 Samui, opened in June 2008, and features 27 beachfront pool villas decorated by famed architect and designer Be Gray. The resort is situated on 5-acres of pristine beachfront on the south-eastern coast of Samui island.

X2 Resorts collection includes X2 Kui Buri and X2 Samui. Other X2 Resorts scheduled to open mid 2010 are at Koh Kood (Kood Island), in Trat Province and Koh Tan (Coral Island), located south-west of Samui in Surat Thani province (see Thailand Islands map)
