Air Berlin is extending its long-range services and will again be offering flights to China in time for the Chinese New Year. This has been made possible by our co-operation with Hainan Airlines, China’s fourth-largest airline. Both companies have agreed that from 25th January 2009 they will jointly market flights between Berlin and Beijing. Hainan has been offering this service since September 2008 and operates up to three flights a week to the Middle Kingdom. Air Berlin has arranged connecting flights from Germany (Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Cologne, Munich, Münster-Osnabrück, Nuremberg, Stuttgart), Austria (Vienna) and Switzerland (Zurich). The code-share flights are sold on a reciprocal basis and operated under the relevant airline’s own flight number. Customers benefit from a wider choice of flights and convenient connections. Members of the frequent flyer schemes operated by Air Berlin and Hainan Airlines have been able to collect and redeem miles from both route networks since November 2008. The code-share flights are now available for booking by telephoning Air Berlin’s Service Centre 24/7 (tel.: 01805-737 800 from Germany, tel.: 0820-737 800 from Austria, tel.: 0848-737 800 from Switzerland) or through travel agents.
Hainan Airlines is the fourth largest airline in China and a high-quality carrier, comparable to Air Berlin. The airline has already received numerous international awards for service, friendliness to passengers and punctuality. The route network includes more than 90 Chinese and international destinations. Hainan Airlines is a member of the HNA Group, which is also active in the areas of airport management, hotel management and tourist services.
Air Berlin is Germany’s second largest airline. Last year the company carried a total of 28.6 million passengers worldwide. Just in 2008 Air Berlin received 13 awards for service and quality.
