JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa has named Arthur Coulombe as its new general manager.

The hotel and resort is currently under construction and is slated to open March 2010. Coulombe will manage the world’s largest JW Marriott resort and the company’s first Texas JW Marriott property.

Coulombe has spent the last 25 years working for Marriott International. For the last seven years, he has served as area general manager of the San Antonio Marriott Hotels. In that role, he managed all of the company’s properties in the San Antonio market. He is also immediate past president of the Greater San Antonio Hotel/Motel Association and is currently chairman of the Tourism Commission of the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“This is an unparalleled project for the San Antonio region, for the State of Texas and for Marriott International,” Coulombe says. “The JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa’s impressive size and magnificent amenities are world-class. It will bring new visitors from all over the globe to experience the beauty of the Texas Hill Country, and further establish our city’s reputation for luxury destination travel and world class sports and recreation.”

The JW Marriott will have 1,002 guest rooms, more than 140,000 square feet of exhibit hall and meeting space, a six-acre water park, a 26,000-square-foot spa, two PGA 18-hole Tournament Player’s Club golf courses, and seven restaurant and lounge options.
