Thai ace Prayad Marksaeng aims to make the cut at next month's US Masters after qualifying for his second Augusta appearance.
The 43-year-old secured a Masters berth after shooting up to number 47 in the world in yesterday's rankings thanks to his joint second place at the Black Mountain Masters in Hua Hin on Sunday.
Prayad is the first Thai golfer to qualify for the Masters based on his own performances.
Sukree Onsham (1970 and 1971) Thongchai Jaidee (2006) were invited to play at Augusta. Prayad also received a special invitation when he played in last year's Masters. All missed the cut.
Prayad started slowly at the Black Mountain Masters but weekend rounds of 67 and 64 pushed him to tied second place.
He entered the tournament at 50th place in the world and needed to finish in the top three to stand any chance of qualifying for the Masters.
Prayad received a special invitation to play at last year's Masters. But his Augusta debut was unsuccessful as he was forced to withdraw during the second round due to a back injury.
Prayad said he had learned a lot from his Augusta debut and believed he could make the cut at this year's tournament, which is scheduled from April 9-12.
