Mr Francois Sigrist has been appointed as the new General Manager of five-star tropical resort and spa, Parkroyal Penang, Malaysia.
Mr Sigrist previously served as the General Manager for the Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa, Langkawi, Malaysia for over 5 years. He started his hotel career in 1982 as a management trainee with Four Seasons Hotels in Houston and San Francisco in the United States. He later joined the Inter-Continental Hotel Group in Geneva, Switzerland and Bangkok, Thailand. Between 1991 and 2002, Mr Sigrist worked in Malaysia, first with Shangri-La in Kuala Lumpur and then as the General Manager of the Equatorial Hotel, Penang. Prior to joining the Pelangi Beach Resort, he served as General Manager at the Sunway Hotel, Hanoi, Vietnam.
With his solid resort and Malaysian postings, he is well suited to take over the helm of Parkroyal Penang, providing solid leadership, based upon the strong foundations he has built though his extensive Food & Beverage and General Management career experiences.
Mr Sigrist attended the Lausanne Hotel School in Switzerland from 1978 to 1981 and received a Diploma from which he attended from 1978 through 1981. He is Swiss by nationality and possesses a Malaysian Permanent Resident. He speaks fluent English and French, is married with two children and enjoys tennis, golf, travelling, cooking, reading and collecting fountain pens and antique tin toys.
Mr Francois Sigrist replaces Mr Mark Losi who recently moved to Pan Pacific Orchard in Singapore as General Manager.
