The last chicane in an effort to bring back the Canadian Grand Prix next year apparently has been successfully negotiated.

Grand Prix F1 du Canada, the previous promoter of the only Formula One Championship race in North America, on Monday announced a settlement had been reached in its financial dispute with Formula One Administration, and principally F1 czar Bernie Ecclestone.

Last year marked the first time in more than 20 years that the race in Montreal was dropped from the F1 calendar. The Canadian Grand Prix celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2008.

Last year's race was cancelled because of a dispute between Legault and Ecclestone, with the latter reportedly having said he was owed $12 million by GPF1 for the last three races in Montreal, ending with the 2008 event.

GPF1 spokesman Paul Wilson said no details of how the dispute was resolved would be made public because of "a confidential agreement" between Normand and Ecclestone.

Ecclestone last month confirmed a race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve had been listed on the F1 world championship's 2010 provisional calendar.

Next year's date is said to be June 6, but the schedule won't be finalized for several weeks, and likely not before early November.
