The Rezidor Hotel Group, the Brussels-based hotel management company, reopens the
Radisson Blu Hamburg following a EUR48 million overhaul.
Renovations to the 556-key property include a new 23,000-square-foot conference area and ballroom; a new lobby with two lounges and designer modern furnishings; two new event locations, individually designed guestroom themes; two restaurants and bars; and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
'As a result of the renovation we have been able to significantly increase our standards and can now offer guests a completely new, first class experience,' commented hotel manager Wolfgang Wagner.
Nearly 400 feet tall, Radisson Blu Hamburg is the city's largest hotel with the most guestrooms and suites. Located next to Hamburg's botanical gardens and within walking distance of major cultural attractions, the hotel's unique three-tower structure has become a landmark on the Hamburg skyline.
The striking hotel lobby features white tile floors, black walls and a dramatically under-lit reception area. Modern interpretations of chandelier lighting and gold armchairs are complimented by design classics, such as original Arne Jacobsen Egg Chairs. Two lobby lounges include 'Library Lounge,' which is located in the rear of the hotel to offer guests a quiet place to relax. Hotel exteriors have been enhanced with 10,000 pieces of granite sourced from Southern Germany and freshly soundproofed double-glazed windows.
Swedish architect Christian Lundwall redesigned the hotel's 556 guestrooms (which average about 325 square feet) and suites (which range from 340 - 1200 square feet) in three individual room styles. Natural rooms feature a light color palette and beechwood furniture; Urban has a modern aesthetic, oak furniture and Amtico flooring; and Mansion combines Turkish rugs, rosewood furniture and silver wardrobes with dramatic black-tiled flooring. All accommodations offer complimentary high-speed wireless internet, and many guestrooms and suites feature sweeping views over Hamburg.
Four new boardrooms at the Radisson Blu Hamburg feature furnishings by renowned modern designers including Arne Jacobsen, Walter Knoll, Corbusier and Designers Guild. The hotel also offers the highest event facility in Hamburg in 'High End,' a 1,300-square-foot space located 350 feet in the air and featuring panoramic city views. Additional event space at the hotel includes a 23,000-square-foot conference floor containing 12 function rooms, and a 5,700-square-foot ballroom. A natural for Hamburg meetings and groups, the hotel also offers direct access to the Congress Centrum Hamburg (CCH).
New culinary offerings at Radisson Blu Hamburg include Rezidor's internationally award-winning Filini Restaurant, which offers modern Italian cuisine and an extensive wine list. The hotel's Asian fusion restaurant Trader Vic's has been completely renovated, and now features a show kitchen with Chinese wood oven, authentic Tiki art and a 'Mai Tai Bar' featuring cocktails and small plates.
The newly renovated Radisson Blu Hamburg is part of an extensive Radisson Blu portfolio across Germany, including a Hamburg Airport Hotel; a recently opened resort in Bad Reichenhall; a stylish hotel in Berlin's Mitte District featuring the world's largest cylindrical aquarium; as well as properties in Dresden, Dusseldorf, Cologne and Frankfurt, among others.
